Early life

Channing Tatum was born in the small town of Culman, Alabama, the son of airline worker Kay Tatum and construction worker Glenn Tatum. Has Irish, French and Indian roots. Channing spent most of his youth in Tampa, Florida, studying at Gaither High School, then at the private school Tampa Catholic High School, where he joined the football team and after graduating from school in 1998 received a full sports scholarship to Glenville State College in West Virginia, but turned it down.

Modeling career

After auditioning in Orlando, Tatum appeared as a dancer for the first time in Ricky Martins video for She Bangs, earning $400 from it. He got his first experience in the fashion industry working for such famous clients as Giorgio Armani and Abercrombie & Fitch. His first fashion show for mens magazine Mens Health was at the Level Nightclub in South Beach, Miami, in November 2000. In 2002, Channing tried his hand at filming commercials for Mountain Dew and Pepsi. after which he signed a contract with a modeling agency Page 305 (Page Parkes Modeling Agency) in Miami and changed his image, cutting his hair short. During this same period, Tatum began to appear on the covers and pages of Vogue, Citizen K, Contents, Out Magazine and Elegance Magazine, participating in advertising campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch, Nautica, Dolce & Gabbana, American Eagle Outfitters, Emporio Armani, and also working for contract with Beatrice Model Agency (Milan) and Ford Models New York.
