The Way of Water is an American epic science fiction film directed and written by James Cameron, produced by Lightstorm Entertainment and TSG Entertainment II and released by 20th Century Studios. The second film in the franchise after the original Avatar strip (2009). Cameron is producing the film with Jon Landau and co-writing the film with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, based on a story the trio created with Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno ru en. Nearly all of the original cast members returned to their roles, including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana , Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dilip Rao, CC Pounder and Matt Gerald, while Sigourney Weaver will reprise her role.The film premiered on December 6, 2022 in London, and in the United States on December 16, 2022

Plot

A decade and a half has passed since the events of the first film. Jake Sully is the leader of the Omaticaya clan. He lives with Neytiri, their sons Neteyam and Loak grow up, the daughter of Tuktirey, the adopted daughter of Kiri, born from the avatar of Grace Augustine, and Miles Socorro, nicknamed Spider, a person by origin. He is the son of Colonel Miles Quaritch, born on Pandora, but due to his age unable to go to Earth in cryosleep.

Budget

The total budget for all future films in the Avatar franchise is over $1 billion. If this amount is spread evenly across all four films, each would have an estimated budget of $250 million. The third film will be released in December 2024, while the fourth and fifth will be released in 2026 and 2028, respectively.
